The Macho Eating Challenge — I won the challenge, but lose in life because I got fatter :(

Mr. Erik H. and I have been in a long winded, heated discussion about who can eat more food in one sitting. After some back and forth jabbering, we both agreed that our challenge would be at Azteca. JP also thought he stood a chance at beating me, so he wanted in the competition as well. The meal? Well, nothing compared to the “Macho” plate. It comes with rice and beans, as well as you choice of 3 other items. We chose the Chalupa, Burrido, and Chimichanga. Here’s what the food looked like (Sorry, I was using my cell phone camera):

Now that you know what we’re up against, on to the competition! After we placed our order, we decided to up the ante. We were to eat chips and salsa non-stop until the food came. This became a daunting task…Since we were eating at the worst Azteca in the world (the one on 148th–don’t eat there), they’re slow to make orders, and have awful waiters who never refill water, etc., etc. We went through many tubs of salsa before our giant 2 plate food platter arrived. I must say we both weren’t terribly hungry after eating so many chips.

I had a few advantages over my competitors. For one, I’ve ordered this plate many times, and had finished it before. I also eat very quickly, so it’s harder for me to “feel” full. Lastly, I strategized for a long time about which items to eat first. I think the obvious answer, as seen in the photo, is the Chalupa. It takes 1 full plate by itself, and is the “heaviest” item to eat (lots of Picadillo under the lettuce). Erik went for the Burrido first (big mistake) and JP tried to eat the Chalupa fast, but couldn’t even touch it.

Once Erik and JP called it quits, I decided to stop eating, before I risk the food coming up the other way.

That’s right, a no-hitter. It would have been a perfect game if I hadn’t hit a batter on an 0-2 pitch. And, before you comment, I was on the 2nd hardest difficulty setting. Impressive, yes?

I loved reading as a child, but as I grew older, and had to read the most boring books of my life in High School and College This turned me ooff from reading completely. After I graduated from college I picked up a few casual books like Freakanomics, The Loved Dog, You: The Owner’s Manual, which have all been excellent books, and I highly recommend them everyone. Well, you don’t have to read the dog book if you don’t own a dog.

I’ve always has an itch for stock markets and investing, so my latest book is Rich Dad, Poor Dad. So far, it’s been excellent and has provided valuable insight into the mindset of the have vs. the have nots. I’m going to play with some small-cap stocks and see how it goes.

In other news, Round 2 of our Basketball game is tonight. Hopefully everything goes as smoothly as the first game.

Lastly, since so many of you haven’t been to my crib yet, I’d like to show you a picture of the inside of my house. Word.

Kwik-E-Mart & Basketball

It looks like some 7-11 stores are changing the name to Kwik-E-Mart (If you live under a rock, this is the name of a 7-11 type store on The Simspsons). Appearently, the stores will sell the same items as their TV show counterpart. For more details, click here.

Now, as many of you may know, we’re having a/an unfriendly basketball game tomorrow to show who is the most macho nerd basketball player at Nintendo. We’re meeting at the lobby in 4900 @ 7:30 if you care to play/watch. See you then.
